Short CV:

Andrea Liese is Professor for International Organizations and Policies at the University of Potsdam. Previously she taught, inter alia, at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, and she held research fellowships at Harvard University and the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB).

Her main research interest is in international relations with a particular focus on international norms, institutions and organizations, non-state actors, transnational human rights policies and development cooperation. She has a long experience in the study of international organizations, especially with regard to the UN specialized agencies and the role of their bureaucracies in norm-setting and norm-implementation, in providing access to non-state actors and in contributing to processes of change and in providing policy advice.

Currently, Andrea Liese is principal investigator (together with Dr. Per-Olof Busch) of the project “Expertise and policy transfers. International public administrations as transfer agents”, as part of the Research Group “International Public Administrations” FOR 1715. She also leads (together with Prof. Dr. Anna Holzscheiter), the project “Responding to Norm Collisions: Procedural Norms and Interface Management in Fragmented Areas of Transnational Politics”, as part of the Research Group “Overlapping Spheres of Authority and Interface Conflicts in the Global Order”.
