The German Research Foundation funds the Berlin Potsdam Research Group on ‘The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?’ for another four years

The Research Group, which took up its work in 2015 and is supported by Freie Universität, Humboldt Universität and Universität Potsdam, examines the role of international law in a changing global order. In the second funding period, the group will focus on which type of international law we may see emerging.

Short CV:

Markus Jachtenfuchs is Professor of European and Global Governance at the Hertie School of Governance and Director of the Jacques Delors Institute Berlin. After studying political science in Mainz, Paris, Berlin and Bruges, he received his PhD from the European University Institute in Florence in 1994. He worked at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and completed his post-doctoral thesis at the University of Mannheim in 1999. Before joining the Hertie School of Governance in 2006 he was Visiting Professor at the University of Greifswald and Professor of Political Science at Jacobs University Bremen. In 2010, he was the Pierre Keller Visiting Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
