Upcoming Public Event: Thomas Franck Lecture by Professor Samantha Besson

The Berlin Potsdam Research Group “The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?” takes great pleasure in inviting you to a public lecture by Professor Samantha Besson, Collège de France (Paris) and University of Fribourg, on

“The Public/Private Relation and International Law”.

Samantha Besson is Professor for International Law and Institutions at the Collège de France, Paris. Previously, she was Professor for Public International Law and European Union Law at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, where she is still a part-time Professor. She holds degrees from the Universities of Fribourg, Vienna, Oxford and Bern. She has been a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Zurich, Duke, Lausanne, Lisbon, Harvard and Penn. She has also taught for the Hague Academy of International Law. She was a Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Institute of Advanced Study of Nantes. She is also a member of the Board of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research interests pertain to general international law, EU institutional law, human rights law and theory, and democratic theory.

The lecture will take place on Monday, 16 May 2022, at 6.15 pm at Senatssaal, Henry Ford Building, Freie Universität Berlin (Garystraße 35, 14195 Berlin).
