26 September 2019: Panel Discussion "What Type of International Law?"

On 26 September 2019, the Berlin Potsdam Research Group “The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?” hosted a public panel discussion about

“What Type of International Law?”.

"What kind or what type of international law do we have in mind, when we talk about a rules-based order? It (…) refers to international order as seen by various international actors as a hollow compromise, and is not based or not based anymore on a common understanding of what international law is or ought to be. What does it mean in a world shifting from unipolar to multipolar?"

The panelists were Prof. Jutta Brunnée (University of Toronto), Prof. Barbara Koremenos (University of Michigan), and Prof. Campbell McLachlan (University of Wellington).
The discussion was chaired by Prof. Andreas Zimmermann (University of Potsdam).
