25 June 2018: Thomas Franck Lecture by Sir Franklin Berman

On 25 June 2018, the Research Group hosted a Thomas Franck Lecture by Sir Franklin Berman on the topic

"Authority in International Law".

Sir Franklin Berman KCMG QC has been, since his retirement as Legal Adviser to the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, a Barrister and international Arbitrator. He is a Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and was previously Judge ad hoc of the International Court of Justice and Legal Member of the Court of Arbitration between Pakistan and India under the Indus Waters Treaty. He was Leader of the British Delegation to the Conferences on the Law of Treaties between States and International Organizations 1986 and on the Statute of the International Criminal Court. He is a Visiting Professor of International Law in the Universities of Oxford and Cape Town.
