15 December 2016: Thomas Franck Lecture by Andrew Hurrell

On 15 December 2016, the Research Group hosted a Thomas Franck Lecture by Professor Andrew Hurrell, University of Oxford, on the topic

"The End of the Global Rule of Law?".

Andrew Hurrell is Montague Burton Professor of International Relations at Oxford University and a Fellow of Balliol College. His research interests cover theories of international relations; theories of global governance; the history of thought on international relations; comparative regionalism and regional powers and the international relations of the Americas, with particular reference to Brazil. He was elected to the British Academy in 2011 and to the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars in 2010. He is a Delegate of Oxford University Press. In the fall of 2016, he was a Senior Fellow with the Research Group.

His current work focuses on the history of the globalization of international society and the implications for 21st century global order. Publications include On Global Order. Power, Values and the Constitution of International Society (OUP, 2008) which was the winner of International Studies Association Prize for Best Book in the field of International Relations in 2009; (with Ngaire Woods), Inequality, Globalization and World Politics (1999); and (with Louise Fawcett), Regionalism in World Politics (1995).
